Journey Center for Safety & Healing

Love to cook and bake?  Park has begun a new monthly mitzvah project to prepare a healthy and delicious Sunday dinner for the mothers and children residing at the Journey Center for Safety & Healing, a shelter for families affected by domestic violence, and we need YOU to help!  While the 20 mothers and 25 children receive meals every day, they normally don’t get Sunday dinner.  Park wants to fill that gap!

We need volunteers to prepare part of the meal in their homes and then deliver the dish to Wendy & David Firestone’s home in Beachwood.  The Firestones, the Project Coordinators, will then take the complete meal to the Journey Center.  We will need 6-8 volunteers per month to make the main course, salad, veggie tray, side dish, fruit salad, and dessert.  Volunteers can be reimbursed for the ingredients of their dish by submitting their receipt to Ellen Petler in the Park office.

Contact Ellen Petler with any questions at epetler@parksyn.org or 216-371-2244 ext. 122.

We hope that many Park members will want to get involved in the new Journey Center Mitzvah Project and use their love of cooking and baking to help feed others in need!
