Support a New Neighbor for the Holidays! “Adopt” a Refugee Family!
Imagine being a refugee and arriving in a strange country and not having everything that you need to live. To help our new neighbors who recently were resettled in Cleveland, Park is partnering again this year with US Together, one of Cleveland’s active refugee resettlement agencies, to help new families in our community have a brighter holiday season. To learn more about US Together, please visit its website at http://ustogether.us
Who? Park has committed to provide gifts for a number of refugee families who recently arrived in Cleveland from Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ukraine, Syria, Somalia, Myanmar, China, and South America. All the families are being assisted by US Together to become integrated into the Cleveland community. US Together helps with their housing, furniture, food, and basic needs, but we want to give these new families some “extras” that will make their lives a little nicer and brighter.
What? Help by “adopting” a refugee family and purchase the exact items that will be most helpful to them. With your help, the families will receive items they requested, such as gift cards for Target or Walmart, NEW blankets, kitchen goods, warm winter outdoor wear, and clothes.
How? If you and your family would like to “adopt” a family, please contact Ellen Petler at epetler@parksyn.org or (216) 371-2244, ext. 122. Ellen will then pair you with one of the refugee families and give you details about what their holiday requests are. Please include your phone number when contacting Ellen.
